A Wise Decision

On Wednesday, March 5, 2014, I underwent prostate cancer surgery at St. John’s Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota. The surgery was scheduled at 12:00 P.M. I recuperated at St. John’s for the next 24 hours. At 1 :00 P.M. the next day I was released/discharged from the hospital. I, did have caregivers who offered their services to care for me at home, but I had contacted my health insurance previous to the surgery and found my insurance would provide coverage up to a month for recovery. I chose to use the Spring Valley Rehabilitation Center. It was a wise decision.

My care there could not have been better. It was a smooth transition. I was warmly welcomed and all preparations for my stay were in place as I settled into my room. The nurses and staff couldn’t do enough to take care of my needs. I felt as comfortable as possible. The physical environment was great -noise level at a minimum. Someone was always available if I needed help or assistance any time of the day. Physical therapy was available as I began to walk and move around and doing prescribed exercises with the help of persons who were trained. I spent 10 days at the Spring Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center.
